POSITION TITLE: Employment Specialist.
REPORTS TO: EFSC Director.
STATUS: Exempt: Full-time.

Summary:

The Employment Specialist reports to the Director of the Elder Financial Safety Center and is responsible for preparing and coordinating job readiness and career development strategies for older adult clients. They are also accountable for providing workforce training and communicating with clients and volunteers in the department. As a member of the Elder Financial Safety Center team, the Employment Specialist works with a cross-functional team to address the economic security of individuals aged 50 and above. This position does not involve managing direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engages clients of diverse backgrounds and establishes trusting, collaborative relationships, assessing for job readiness, career enhancement, or post-retirement work using career development strategies and coaching techniques.
  • Partner with experts in the field to organize vocational education and training sessions on topics such as resume development, interview skills, fraud protection, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, technology, and multigenerational working.
  • Identifies technology gaps among current older adult clients related to everyday technology use and workforce trends imperative to older adult learning, employment procurement, and maintaining their independence.
  • Creates, implements, evaluates, and reports on technology content and programs
    delivered by technology training content partner.
  • Ability to perform technology training in person, online, and through mobile applications.
  • Prepares annual technology programming plan that is adaptable to changing needs of clients and current technology trends.
  • At regular intervals, assess the progress of program clients, record their progress, connect them to resources, and document the outcomes.
  • Make sure all required forms, tests, and assessments for the program are conducted accurately and the outcomes are appropriately recorded and shared.
  • Manages and maintains client and professional contacts, training and education resources, and community network information in the database using proven documentation methods.
  • Leads and participates in project initiatives as a member of a cross-functional team inside and outside the scope of expertise and experience.

Requirements:

  • One to three years of any combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the duties and responsibilities listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Cultural competence with an ability to work successfully within an inclusive team and with diverse clients from various backgrounds
  • Ability to motivate clients and train and guide other staff when required.
  • Ability to conduct assignments and projects without detailed instructions.
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Capacity to work in a first of its kind program that requires a high level of adaptation and willingness to be flexible as the project evolves.
  • Four-year degree required in Education, Technology, Training, HR, or related field preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with technology and data management systems necessary.
